Not every lead deserves the same attention. Lead scoring gives each lead points for who they are and what they do, so reps call the most likely buyers first.
Two kinds of points
Fit points reflect who the lead is: industry, company size, location, role. Engagement points reflect what they did: asked for pricing, booked a demo, opened a quotation, replied to a message.
Example scoring table
| Signal | Example points |
|---|---|
| Asked for pricing | +20 |
| Booked a demo or meeting | +25 |
| Opened the quotation | +10 |
| Replied on WhatsApp | +10 |
| Fits your target segment | +15 |
| No response for 14 days | -10 |
These numbers are examples. Adjust them until high-scoring leads really do convert more often.
Tags that reps can act on
- Hot: call today
- Warm: follow up this week
- Cold: nurture with messages or sequences
Keep it honest
- Review monthly: do Hot leads win more than Cold ones?
- Do not let points replace judgement; reps know context.
- Reduce scores for silence so old leads cool down.
A worked example
Two leads arrive on the same day. Lead A is a small shop that downloaded a brochure. Lead B is a company in your target segment that asked for pricing, booked a demo and replied on WhatsApp. With scoring, Lead B reaches Hot status and shows up at the top of the list, so the rep calls B first and sends A a nurture message. Without scoring both wait in the same queue.
Note: NexoraCRM adds automatic points for pricing requests, demos, meetings and replies, with Hot, Warm and Cold tags.
