Alerts That People Act On
Monitoring is only useful if someone is told. Too few alerts and a failure is missed; too many and people stop reading. NexoraNAS lets you choose which conditions are warnings, which are critical and who is told about each.
Each alert names the device, the component, the value and the time, so the person on call knows what to check without opening every NAS.
Email is the standard channel. Other channels are agreed during project scoping and depend on your environment.
Alert Conditions
Disk failure or warning
Disk offline, failed or showing health warnings.
RAID degraded or failed
Any change from the healthy state.
Temperature
Drives or enclosure above your limits.
Low free space
Warning and critical levels per volume.
Device unreachable
NAS stops answering, often a network or power issue.
Recovery notices
A message when the condition clears.
Route and Control Noise
Not every alert is for everyone. Send storage hardware alerts to the infrastructure team and capacity alerts to the person who buys disks. Use severity levels so critical issues stand out.
- Warning and critical severities
- Different recipients per group or device
- Recovery notifications
- Acknowledgement and history
- Maintenance awareness to avoid noise during planned work
Alert Flow
Threshold crossed
A reading passes a limit.
Alert raised
Device and component are named.
Notified
Recipients receive the alert.
Fix
Engineer resolves the issue.
Recovery
Clear notice sent.
Example Alert Setup
| Condition | Severity | Notify |

| Array degraded | Critical | Storage admin, IT head |
| Disk S.M.A.R.T. warning | Warning | Storage admin |
| Free space below 15 percent | Warning | Storage admin |
| Free space below 8 percent | Critical | Storage admin, IT head |
| NAS unreachable | Critical | Network team |
NAS Alerting & Notification Software – FAQ
NexoraNAS can alert on disk failure or warnings, degraded or failed RAID, high temperature, fan or power faults where reported, low free space and a NAS that stops responding. It can also send a message when a condition recovers. The exact alerts available for a device depend on what that device reports.
Email is the standard channel. Other delivery methods can be added depending on your environment and are agreed during project scoping. Every alert includes the device, component, value and time. If you need alerts to reach a ticketing or messaging system, NexoraSoft can scope an integration.
Yes. Use two levels, warning and critical, set sensible thresholds per volume rather than one value for all, and send different alerts to different people. Recovery notices help people trust that a condition has cleared. Review the alert history monthly and tune any threshold that fires too often.
Yes. Recipients can be assigned by device, group or alert type, so the infrastructure team receives hardware alerts and the person responsible for budgets receives capacity alerts. For service providers, alerts for each client can go to the engineer who looks after that client.
NexoraNAS raises an alert when it can no longer reach a device, which usually points to a network, power or hardware problem. Because the NAS cannot report its own death, monitoring from outside the device is what catches it, and this is one of the reasons to use a central tool.
