Watch every drive in every NAS. NexoraNAS reads disk status and S.M.A.R.T. indicators and alerts you while there is still time to replace a failing disk.

Why Disk Health Monitoring Matters for a NAS
A NAS is only as healthy as its disks. Drives rarely fail without warning: reallocated sectors rise, read errors appear, temperature climbs. S.M.A.R.T. exposes these signals, but nobody opens each NAS daily to read them.
NexoraNAS collects disk status and S.M.A.R.T. indicators from your NAS devices and shows them in one dashboard with thresholds and alerts, so a drive that is going bad is replaced on your schedule, not during an outage.
S.M.A.R.T. is an indicator, not a guarantee. Some drives fail with no warning, which is why monitoring complements RAID and backups rather than replacing them.
What NexoraNAS Tracks on Each Disk
Drive status
Online, offline, failed or rebuilding state for each bay.
S.M.A.R.T. indicators
Reallocated, pending and uncorrectable sector counts and other attributes the device reports.
Disk temperature
Per-drive temperature with warning and critical thresholds.
Power-on hours
Drive age so you can plan replacement before the failure window.
Alerts
Notification when a disk changes state or crosses a threshold.
History
Trend per drive to separate a one-time blip from a steady decline.
Replace Disks Before They Fail
The practical value is time. A warning two weeks ahead lets you order the right disk, schedule a quiet hour and rebuild the array while it is still protected. A failure discovered after a second disk dies leaves no such choice.
- Per-bay health at a glance
- Thresholds you control
- Alerts with device, bay and time
- History per drive
- Works across devices that expose SNMP or API data

Disk Signals and What They Suggest
| Signal | Typical meaning |
|---|---|
| Rising reallocated sectors | Surface wear; plan replacement |
| Pending or uncorrectable sectors | Higher risk; replace soon |
| High temperature | Cooling or airflow problem |
| Disk offline | Array may be degraded; act now |
| Very high power-on hours | Age risk; schedule replacement |
NAS Disk Health & SMART Monitoring Software – FAQ
NexoraNAS reads the disk status and S.M.A.R.T. values that the NAS reports through SNMP or a vendor interface and compares them with thresholds you set. It flags a drive that is offline, throws growing error counts or runs too hot. It relies on what the device exposes, so the exact attributes vary by model, and the demo confirms what your devices report.
No. S.M.A.R.T. catches many gradual failures but not sudden ones such as a controller or electronics fault. Industry studies show a significant share of drives fail with no earlier warning. That is why disk monitoring should be combined with RAID redundancy and tested backups, and why NexoraNAS also watches array state and temperature, not only S.M.A.R.T. values.
Alerts are sent as soon as a reading crosses a threshold during the next poll of the device. How early that is relative to a failure depends on the drive: a wearing disk may warn for weeks, while a sudden failure gives none. Shorter polling gives faster alerts at the cost of a little more load, and the interval is set during configuration.
NexoraNAS works with what the NAS reports for its drives, whether they are hard disks or SSDs, but SSD wear attributes differ from hard disk attributes and not every NAS exposes them. Tell us your NAS model and drive types in the demo request and we will confirm which health values appear on the dashboard for your setup.
Yes. Disk health monitoring warns you early, RAID lets the array survive a disk failure, and backup protects you from deletion, ransomware and site loss. Each covers a different risk. NexoraNAS strengthens the first and shows the state of the second, but it does not replace a tested backup.
